Following my graduation as an Architect (Tbilisi Academy of Fine Arts), I have completed master degrees in conservation of monuments and sites (KU Leuven) and in World Heritage Management (University College Dublin). For the last four years I have been working as an early stage researcher at the Newcastle University, completing my PhD in archaeology on the subject ‘Landscape and Heritage: Exploring the Trans-sectoral Connections and their Role in Participatory Governance’.
I have been working in heritage management since 2002, occupying various positions in national heritage administration in Georgia, focusing on conservation of historic cities, cultural landscapes, intangible heritage, industrial heritage and world heritage. I have gathered extensive experience working with international organizations such as the Council of Europe, World Heritage Centre, ICOMOS, World Bank, USAID, etc.
